Speed Alert

A story from the road

Siddhartha and Aditya

Siddhartha built the foundation of this app while waiting for his Class X board results. He is joined by his brother Aditya, who brings deep mathematical and systems expertise while currently pursuing his PhD.

As brothers, we build things that actually help people — Speed Alert is one of them.

The origin story: Siddhartha's Dad travels every day from TSPA Junction to Kompally for work — on the beautiful Hyderabad ORR. It's a smooth, wide road that almost invites you to go a little faster than you realise. That's about 150 km up and down, every single day.

Most of the speed camera fines on that stretch happen at 121 or 122 km/h — just barely over the limit, and almost always unintentional. You're not reckless. You just didn't know the camera was there.

Speed Alert is built for people who respect the road and care about others on it. When someone spots a camera, they report it. When you drive past the same spot, you confirm it with a thumbs up. That's how we build confidence in every camera's position, together.

Built for the road, not for the screen

I deliberately kept the map out of the way. You should not be staring at a map while driving — that's exactly the kind of distraction that causes accidents.

The entire app is designed around a simple idea: give you the information you need, exactly when you need it, without pulling your eyes off the road. Speed in big numbers. Alert in red. Voice warning before you see the camera. That's it.

Reporting a camera takes three taps. Confirming one takes one. No accounts, no logins, no fuss — just a simple tool that works for every driver.

💡 Got an idea? Tell me.

This app is shaped by the people who use it. If you have a feature idea that is simple, practical, and useful for everyday drivers — I want to hear it.

No fancy dashboards. No social feeds. Just things that make your drive safer and less stressful.

Simple and effective only — the best features are invisible

Built with love, pocket money, and PhD stipends

This app is hosted entirely out of our own pockets — funded by school pocket money and academic stipends. It's built on Next.js with a PostgreSQL backend — a proper production stack, not a prototype.

If my hosting costs are covered, I can keep it free and keep building — smarter alerts, better heatmaps, and more features for a safer, more joyful drive on Indian roads.

A message from the road

Please do not blind oncoming drivers with high intensity blinking high beam lights. Always use your dipper. Never honk unnecessarily — we are on the road only when it truly necessitates us.

Drive with grace. The road belongs to all of us.

Safety Disclaimer

Camera placements are 100% crowdsourced. Do not rely entirely on the app; the authenticity of any camera relies purely on the driving community's thumbs up/down confirmations.
